The top 5 crafts markets in Majorca

We propose a visit to a traditional market on each day of the week in the most emblematic towns in the northeast of Majorca.

Shopping enthusiasts and the curious looking for something beyond sun, sea and sand and who are visiting Cap Vermell are in luck. Every day there is at least one craft market in the municipalities in the northeast of Majorca. What better way to enjoy a relaxing day than a stroll through the backstreets of a delightful Majorcan town, losing yourself amongst the stalls selling local foods, clothing and artisan products? 

1. Artà Market (Tuesday). This is probably the most comprehensive and interesting market in the north of Majorca. It has lots of stalls selling craftwork, ceramics, decorative products, jewellery and lots more, plus you can also find top-quality vegetables and fish. Each year, Queen Sofia visits Artà on market day, attracted by its unique and varied range of products, and later enjoys a meal in one of the most iconic restaurants in the town.

2. Capdepera Market (Wednesday). Wednesday is the perfect day to visit Capdepera Castle and make the most of your trip to explore the heart of one of the towns that boasts most history in Majorca. Every Wednesday, Orient Square and the adjacent Capdepera streets play host to a craft market with foods, plants, flowers, clothing and footwear.

3. Sant Llorenç des Cardassar Market (Thursday). In the High Street and the Church Square a gastronomy and sociocultural market is organised in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, in the eastern region of Majorca. A stop-off here could form part of the perfect plan when visiting the majestic Drach Caves.

4. Son Servera Market (Friday). With more than 200 stalls stretching between Sant Joan Square and the old railway station, it’s fascinating to see how the market is set up and grows from 6.30 in the morning. In addition, on the third Sunday of each month, a second-hand market is organised in Sant Joan Square.

5. Cala Rajada Market (Saturday). Each Saturday morning, Cala Rajada fills with food products, plants, flowers, clothing and footwear. It’s the perfect place to do a spot of shopping before enjoying a day on the beach in the heavenly bays of Cala Agulla or Cala Gat.
