The Llevant Peninsula Natural Park - A Flora and Fauna Paradise with Spectacular Landscapes

A unique place due the diverse landscapes, wealth of flora and fauna and environmental value. The Llevant Peninsula Natural Park was declared a natural park in November 2001.

It occupies a total surface area of more than 1407 hectares, shared by the municipalities of Capdepera and Artà in north-eastern Mallorca.

Cliffs, beaches and torrents, wetlands, agricultural ecosystems and holm oak, wild olive tree and pine forests... It’s the ideal place to get lost and enjoy nature with no other company than the native fauna which is extensively present given that it was also declared a Special Protection Area for Wild Birds (SPA), a Site of Community Importance (SCI) and a Balearic Island Natural Area of Special Interest (ANEI).

A series of self-guided itineraries are found within its borders.  All of them are quite interesting and connect different areas of public interest in the park: Es Verger to Albarca, S’Alqueria Vella to Es Verger, Campament dels Soldats to Albarca or Camino de s’Esquena Llarga.

It also has an information centre which is open to the public with several shelters for accommodation which can be reserved in advance (s’Alzina, els Oguers and s’Arenalet) in addition to a camping area near s’Arenalet, a spectacular virgin beach with fine sand and crystal clear water.

There are spacious areas of almond, olive, fig and carob trees which co-exist in harmony with impressive forests of native trees and bushes.

Archaeological remains, examples of military architecture and traditional island structures all complete the attraction of this natural gem, a must-stop on Mallorca for anyone looking for something more than just beaches and the sea
